Cividata – Nonprofit Organizations Worldwide
Cividata is a volunteer project to display data about nonprofit organizations from Wikidata.
About Cividata
Cividata is a volunteer project to provide an overview of nonprofit organizations worldwide. It aims to make civil society visible in all its diversity. Behind it lies the question: what are the most relevant organizations in a country? Since relevance is difficult to measure, nonprofit organizations are listed according to various metrics. Which metrics are used depends entirely on the available data.
Based on Wikipedia's Sister Project Wikidata
While this website is currently a volunteer individual project, there's an entire community behind the data. The data is regularly extracted from the Wikidata platform. Wikidata is a sister project of Wikipedia and enables volunteer authors worldwide to maintain a database.
Edit and Add Data
If you'd like to add more information to existing organizations or add new organizations, this is possible at any time. Create a Wikidata/Wikipedia account and get started. With the icon, you can view and edit any organization directly in Wikidata. Always remember to provide appropriate sources.
If you have larger datasets, it's also possible to perform mass imports in Wikidata. However, you should know what you're doing for this. Feel free to ask me for help or join the WikiProject: Nonprofit Organizations on Wikidata.
New Country Pages
India, Spain, and even Belgium. But what about country XY? I'm happy to include new countries in Cividata. This requires at least 50 organizations that have at least one annual revenue entry. Feel free to write to me if you're interested in becoming active for a country.
